Biography

Mr. White began his full-time music education career as a clinician and private lesson instructor in Broward County, FL in 1993 working in several middle and high schools instructing brass, woodwind and percussion students. He continues to work as a clinician for bands in the Central Florida area and around the state.

Mr. White also began performing as a herald trumpeter as well as directing and arranging the period music at the Florida Renaissance Festival along with his brass quintet from 1993 until 2009.

Invited by the brass caption head, in 1999, Mr. White joined the brass staff for the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps teaching low brass and occasionally other sections prior to tour. This was a very special year as the Crusaders made their debut in the Drum Corps International World Championship top 12.

In 2000, he began his scholastic directing career by accepting a full-time position as a high school string orchestra director and guitar teacher in addition to continuing private lessons and clinician work.

Mr. White moved to Central Florida in 2006 where he opened Markham Woods Middle School. A full service band program was created including beginning, intermediate, advanced as well as intermediate and advanced jazz bands along with its own unique culture and traditions. Mr. White also taught music appreciation and pioneered the middle school level music technology class in 2015 including projects completed on students’ personal mobile devices. In 2017, Mr. White pioneered a music appreciation course on the virtual platform Canvas which was delivered to students via computer lab and included media rich videos of performances of famous composers and artists.

In the fall of 2017, Mr. White became the music teacher for Seminole County Virtual School where he is currently teaching middle and high school guitar, music appreciation, elementary music, business and other business related courses.

Mr. White was invited in 2008 to adjudicate music in the marching arts becoming a member of the Central States Judges Association judging for the Florida Marching Band Coalition state competition circuit where he continues to provide quality feedback assisting directors in improving the quality of their programs.

From 2010-2016, Mr. White was an adjudicator for the Central Florida Private School Solo & Ensemble providing middle and high school brass and woodwind students from various private schools with quality feedback and instruction for their solo or ensemble performances.

From 2010 to 2016, Mr. White was a founder and co-director of the Lake Mary-Longwood Summer Band Camp for middle school students. The camp held beginning band, concert band and jazz band classes and served incoming 5th grade through outgoing 8th graders to promote continuous engagement in practice during their time off during the summer.

Mr. White regularly provides comments and feedback for pre-music performance assessment concerts for middle and high school bands to aid in their preparation for their annual performance evaluations as well as other educational goals.

In Mr. White’s personal life, he, his wife Sherry and his daughter currently live in the North Central Florida area. He was  a charter member of the Florida Wave Drum & Bugle Corps from 1981-1982 and was a member of the City of Sunrise Jazz Ensemble from 1983 to 1998.
